Official League Rules

Rules of Game Play

  1. Each team is responsible for coordinating and completing all their scheduled games for for the season by the alloted deadline for that season. Teams are encouraged to complete their weekly matches by identified interim milestone dates in order to prevent overbooking of the arena at the tail end of the season.
  2. Absolultely no League sanctioned games shall take place during regular working hours. Games are to completed prior-to/after the work day or during recognized break periods.
  3. Each team shall complete 4 matches against all other opponents in the League to complete the season (Two HOME games and two AWAY games against each opponent).
  4. Teams will be awarded 2 points for each win, and 0 points for a loss or OT loss.
  5. To be considered a league game of record - games played must be presided over by a League Official. A League Offical can be any current league GM not directly particiapting in the game, or an independant third party approved by the Office of the Commissioner.
  6. The team listed as Home Team for the scheduled match shall have the choice of side to play on (Red Team or Blue Team). The Home Team also gets the right to control the audio and visual entertainment to be played immediately before, during and immediately after their home game.
  7. Each game will start by the League Official hitting the start button with scoreboard at 0-0 when both opponents signal they are ready to begin game play.
  8. Each game of record shall consist of three (3), sixty (60)-second periods. If regulation time ends in a tie, or a team is losing by one goal, then the game will be played until there is one decisive winner. If one team is ahead by two goals at the end of regulation, the game is over and official will call the game and complete a score card for submission to the Office of the Commissioner.
  9. The puck must stay in the net and travel down the goal chute, and be registered by the game unit to be counted as a goal scored. Goals that appear to go in the net and bounce out do NOT count as a goal scored and the League Official will not stop play to review any such disputed goals, so players must keep playing at all times.
  10. Goalies may not be moved rapidly from side to side so as to violently shake the ice surface of the game. Players will be warned once and may forfeit the match if repeat violations occur at the official’s discretion.
  11. Play Stalling: Players are not permitted to stall play by deliberately holding puck for extended periods of time. A player may request a five (5)-Count (counted as one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, etc.) from the League Official. The player receiving the count must then pass or shoot before the end of the 5-Count. Failure to move the puck by the five (5)-Count will result in the player being charged a Goal Agains or disqualified at the sole discretion of the official.
  12. If the game malfunctions electronically during a match, at the official’s discretion the game will be replayed from the start no matter what the score is at the time of the malfunction.
  13. Abuse of stadium facilities will result in immediate disqualification and banishment from the MBHL. Examples of abuse include lifting, shaking, purposely moving, unplugging, striking and kicking.
  14. All disputes not settled by the assigned league official at each match shall be brought before the Office of the Commissioner for resolution. All decisions from the OoC are considered to be final and binding.

Radio Robert Cup Playoffs

  1. Playoffs shall consist of head to head series play and points are not awarded or accumulated for each win. All other Regular Season Rules of Play shall apply for playoff matches.
  2. The top 6 ranking teams by regular season points will advance to the Radio Robert Cup Playoffs. In the event two or more teams are tied in points, the following tie-breakers shall be applied in the order listed
    1. Head to Head Record.
    2. Goals For (ascending order).
    3. Goals Against (descending order).
    4. If a winning side cannot be determined by the tie breakers above, the teams shall play a single match game to finalize seeding (winning side finishing ahead of losing side). Home team shall be determined by coin toss.
  3. First Play-off Round:
    • The top 2 regular season teams receive a buy.
    • Seed 3 plays Seed 6, Seed 4 plays Seed 5 in best of five series to be played as H-H-A-A-H for the highest seed.
  4. Second and Third Playoff Rounds:
    • Seed 1 plays the lowest advancing team, Seed 2 plays the highest advancing team in a best of seven series to be played as H-H-A-A-H-A-H for the highest seed.
    • The winners of each of the above series play in a best of seven series for the Radio Robert Cup to be played as H-H-A-A-H-A-H for the highest seed.
